MP To Organize Losers Party For Delegates

Defeated New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Obuasi East, Edward Enin will on Sunday June 21st, 2015 organize losers party for delegates in his constituency.

This, he said is in appreciation for their enormous support and encouragement as their MP for three terms.

“I will go to church for thanksgiving and organize a losers party for all delegates including those who voted against me,” he stated sarcastically on Asempa FM Thursday.

Edward Enin was one of the 24 incumbent MPs who lost their seats in the party’s recently held parliamentary primaries on Saturday, June 13th, 2015.

The party delegates shocked many as they showed big names such as Dr. Richard Anane, Isaac Osei, Joe Appiah, and some female MPs including Gifty Klenam and Esther Obeng Dapaah the exit. They have since formed an association to ensure the party’s flagbearer; Nana Akufo-Addo wins the 2016 general elections.

Edward Enin expressed worry at the loss of leading figures who represent the NPP in Parliament.

He indicated that the NPP has lost its core of experienced MPs who championed the party’s cause in Parliament.

Though his defeat has not affected him, Edward Enin said delegates should have given the first time MPs to chance to make an impact in Parliament.

“I share the pain of the first time MPs; I think the delegates were not fair to them. For me, I’m a dead goat so I don’t fear knife,” he scoffed.

This notwithstanding, Edward Enin thanked party delegates for reposing confidence in him and pledged to support to new candidate to win power in 2016.

The Obuasi East MP called on party leadership to as a matter of urgency introduce regulations that will protect MPs serving their first term, as well as party leaders in Parliament, from losing their seats.

He said protecting experienced MPs is necessary to maintain effective representation in Parliament.
