Charlotte Osei's Appointment As EC Boss Dazed Me - Kwesi Pratt

The Managing Editor of the Insight newspaper, Kwesi Pratt, has described the appointment of Charlotte Osei as chair of the electoral commission as a “master stroke”.

Speaking on Accra-based Radio Gold Saturday, Mr Pratt said the fact that Mrs Osei’s appointment had been accepted by all political parties, means President John Mahama made a good choice.

“It is a master stroke. In fact, when I heard it, I couldn’t believe myself. It actually dazed me.

“The fact that such a huge appointment did not leak in the media tells you that our state institutions are getting better. Because there were several correspondence, I believe, before the decision was made; yet no one knew about it,” he said.

Mrs Osei used to be the Chairperson of the National Commission on Civic Education (NCCE) before she was appointed EC Chair.

Prior to being made the Chairperson of the NCCE, she was the founder and lead counsel of Prime Attorneys, a leading law firm in Accra.
Mrs Osei had earlier served as a senior legal officer for the GCB and company secretary/legal adviser for Unibank Ghana Limited.
