New EC Boss Can't Rig 2016 Elections For NDC Asiedu Nketia

General Secretary of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) has described as 'laughable' claims that the 2016 election will be a cool chop for the party due to the appointment of Mrs. Charlotte Osei as the new Chairman of the Electoral Commission.

He stated unequivocally that, the new EC Boss though appointed by President John Mahama cannot rig the election for NDC "if the results don’t favour us".

“Charlotte Osei can’t massage election figures in our favour because she does not work in a vacuum,” he stated on Asempa FM Monday.

The appointment of the Chairperson of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), Charlotte Osei as new Electoral Commissioner (EC) has generated a lot of controversy across the country.

Many including members the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) have argued that her affiliation with the NDC puts her in a compromise position which they claim might affect her work in 2016.

But General Mosquito as he is popularly called, described the argument as “childish”.

He said even if the claim of she being a member of the NDC is anything to go by, Charlotte Osei is a very professional lady who will not allow her political affiliation to cloud her judgment.

“Charlotte Osei is one out of the seven Chairpersons at the EC so when the election figures show the opposition New Patriotic Party has won, there is nothing she can do,” he added.

Asiedu Nketia urged critics to look beyond the partisan politics and look at the professional competence of the new EC boss and give her the moral support to succeed.
