National Organizer of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) is accusing the National Democratic Congress (NDC) of 'vote buying' ahead of the July 7th by-election at Talensi in the Upper East region.

According to him, in their bid to win the seat, the ruling party is sharing bags of fertilizers and GHȼ100 to each voter in the town.

In addition, John Boadu on Accra-based Oman FM Tuesday alleged that, the NDC has also promised to connect about 17 communities to the national grid if their candidate is voted as the Member of Parliament.

The July 7 by-election in Talensi is set to be fiercely contested between the major political parties.

The Electoral Commission announced the date for the polls following the resignation by the former Member of Parliament, Robert Mosore because he has been enskinned the Paramount Chief of the Tolon Traditional area.

After primaries, the NDC elected 67-year-old Benson Tongo Baba, a businessman and former Chairman of the Ghana Olympic Committee whiles the NPP elected Thomas Doanab Wuni, a 51-year-old Accountant and Lawyer who works with the Nsawam Government Hospital.

But John Boadu said the ruling party sensing defeat ahead of the primaries has adopted a communist inferior tactics.

“Most of our party flags and posters of our candidate have been shredded into pieces. Those doing that should know we are capable of doing more than that” he warned.

The NPP National Organizer urged the voters in Talensi to vote with their conscience not to be swayed by the money and freebies from the NDC.
