NADMO Distributes Relief Items For Flood Victims To Staff

Starrfmonline.com has uncovered massive looting at the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) as officials tasked with distributing relief items to victims of the flood and fire disaster have rather decided to share items among their staff members.

Over 10, 000 people were affected by the June 3 flood that ripped through parts of the capital, Accra as over 150 people also lost their lives in a fire explosion at a filling station at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle as a result of the heavy downpour.

Among some of the relief items distributed to staff of NADMO and other ministries include bags of rice, bottles of cooking oil, mattresses, buckets, blankets, bowls and pillows.

At the Ga Central Municipal Assembly in Sowutuom where the NADMO office is located in the same building with the Local Government Ministry, the items were distributed to NADMO staff and other workers of the ministry.

The items which were dispatched to some of the NADMO assembly offices by army officers about a fortnight ago were distributed on Tuesday, June 30, 2015.

A source at the Ga Central Municipal Assembly on condition of anonymity said the items were given to them by the head of the assembly. Other assemblies in the Greater Accra region followed suit by distributing the relief items to its staff.

Several calls and messages sent to NADMO for their official response have proven futile.
