Talensi By-Elections: NPP-NDC Cash Over Campaign Venue

Tension has started building up in the Talensi constituency following a clash between the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) over the venue for the final rally ahead of the primaries.

NPP National Organizer, John Boadu speaking on Ekosii Sen programme on Asempa FM on Thursday said that the confusion surrounding the venue for the campaign rally arose after the NDC demanded to use the same venue booked by his party for the rally.

“We wrote a letter to the Police to notify them that we would hold the final rally at Tongo and no one had booked the venue then but we learnt the NDC also wants to use the place at the same time…,” he said.

The situation, he said has left the Police in limbo as they do not know if they should turn down the application of the ruling party.

The NPP, NDC, PNC and several parties have locked horns in the Upper East constituency following the resignation of Robert Mosore who resigned after his enskinment as Tongo Chief.

John Boadu also accused the NDC of destroying posters of the NPP and distributing money to the voters in the constituency. But these allegations, Kofi Adams said were untrue as the NDC only have a budget of GHC500.00 for each community in the constituency.

He also accused the NPP of distributing monies as well.
