Wontumi Is A Great Liar, He Hasnt Learnt His Lessons...

The National Organiser of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Kofi Adams has slammed the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako as a great liar yet to learn his lessons from a libel suit he faces.

The NPP firebrand has accused the ruling NDC of distributing cash and goods in an attempt to influence voters in the by-election scheduled for the Talensi Constituency of the Upper East region on July 7.

Antwi Boasiako, aka Chairman Wontumi, said on Radio Gold on Friday that the NDC national executives and even the Vice President Paa Kwesi Amissah Arthur were distributing GH¢1,000 to voters plus other goodies including NDC branded bags of fertilizer. He said the NDC’s own constituency executives at Talensi held a press conference four days ago to complain about the development. He was sure however that voters would vote against the NDC because they have been made wiser from past deceptions. They will also not vote for the NDC because their lives have been worsened despite voting for President Mahama.

But Kofi Adams said none of what Wontumi alleges is true, but that the only thing the NDC was sharing with the people is the message of development.

“We are sharing with them the message of development and peace. That they vote for us they are voting for a party that will continue to bring them development. They vote for us they vote for people who stand with them and they will be with them. We are the only party that has something bigger at stake, we are the ones that are in charge … they’ve seen that we have been faithful and loyal to them in terms of development and we are going to continue.”

According to Kofi Adams, he is not surprised Wontumi is facing libel charges in court over lies. “I know people say some people are really liars and I’m not surprised there is a court issue against somebody like Chairman Wontumi by Ibrahim Mahama for the same falsehood peddled against him. But he will not learn his lessons and he will continue on those paths. Nobody has organized any press conference let alone in the presence of His Excellency, the Vice President.”

Kofi Adams said he had been in Talensi long before the arrival of the Vice President and has been with other executives and that nowhere had NDC executives addressed the media on any such issues as alleged by Wontumi.
“Indeed I have been in the constituency long before the Vice President came. We have been having our campaigns with the constituency chairman, the constituency secretary, the constituency women’s organizer, the youth organizer, the constituency organizer and all other executives, everybody is involved including the district chief executive running here and there. So I don’t know who he is talking about that organized what press conference as an executive in the presence of Paa Kwesi Amissah Arthur. But it’s part of the NPP lies.”

Kofi Adams also described as an untruth, claims by Wontumi that a controversial photograph depicting him and other members of the NPP bare chested and standing in front of an old man said to be a fetish priest was actually taken while they were visiting the chief of a village in Talensi where tradition demanded all – men, women and children – to dress half-naked.

“I was surprised he was calling God’s name, … It is not true, my dear we have visited that town as a party not less than three times… we never removed anything, we never removed even our sandals. …. They know where they went to, where they went to and you saw the picture did you see any voters there?....He should stop peddling those lies… I can tell you for free, there is no town in Talensi that when you are entering you have to remove your dress, there is no town. Wontumi is a great liar, he is a liar and that is what he has done and Ibrahim is taking him on and he is still on it.

“Look I believe that at least for once, Bawumia (NPP presidential running mate) because he is in the Ramadan period may speak the truth. If you like call him if he would speak, and ask him who is distributing what…”
