Voters Will Teach NDC A Bitter Lesson - Nana Akomea
Director of Communication of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) says the outcome of the Talensi by-election will set the pace for the 2016 general elections.
He said the people of Talensi will teach the National Democratic Congress (NDC) a bitter lesson in spite of the monies and freebies they are distributing in the constituency.
It has been weeks of campaigning and intense activity in the Talensi constituency in the Upper East region with the two major political parties, NDC and NPP leaving nothing to chance in their bid to win the seat.
The seat was declared vacant after NPP MP, Robert Mosore resigned to take up a chieftaincy position.
The two major parties on Saturday held mammoth rallies to conclude weeks of heated political campaigning in the Talensi constituency.
Speaking on Asempa FM Monday, Nana Akomea said the NDC stands no chance of winning the seat.
According to him, the people of Talensi are wallowing in abject poverty due to the bad socio-economic conditions of the Mahama-led administration.
“The people of Talensi will show Ghanaians the way ahead of the 2016 election because they are also experiencing the harsh economic challenges under the Mahama government,” he stressed.
The NPP Director of Communication urged the voters not to be swayed by the freebies and vote based on their conscience.
Nana Akomea also urged the Electoral Commission and the Police Service to offer a level playing field for all political parties in the by-election.
In a quick rebuttal, NDC Member of Parliament for Lower Manya Krobo, Ebenezer Teye Larbi said the vile propaganda of the NPP will fall flat in their face.
He indicated that a win for the NDC in Talensi is a done deal because the constituents are grateful for the developments in the area.
“The people of Talensi will vote massively for the NDC to acknowledge the developmental projects being undertaken by the Mahama government,” he stated.
Mr. Teye Larbi advised the NPP to psych up their members ahead of the impending defeat in Talensi on Tuesday, July 7, 2015.
