NPP MP Urges PPP To Go To Court Over Talensi By-Election

Member of Parliament (MP) for Bantama, Henry Kokofu has implored the Progressive People's Party (PPP) to file a suit against the Electoral Commission over some malpractices that preceded the Talensi by-election.

According to Hon. Kokofu, the leaders of the Progressive People's Party (PPP) should proceed to the High Court and show evidence of such malpractices.

He recounted that PNDC law 284 sets right the circumstances under which elections can be cancelled and so charged the PPP founder Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom to seek justice.

Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom reportedly claimed the by-election was characterized by certain acts of violence and corruption.

Speaking on Peace FM on Kokrokoo, the MP was hopeful such bold step by the PPP will help clarify issues regarding the Talensi by-election.

“Under PNDC law 284 Section 20; bribery, cheating and corruption is an offence that can when proven by a High Court, a High Court can cancel elections. So, If Mr. Paa Kwesi Nduom and the PNC think they have credible evidence which will help all of us; they should be bold to take the step.”
