$15m Metro-Fibre Infrastructure Project Launched

Minister of Communications Dr. Edward Omane Boamah has launched Internet Solutions’ Metro-Fibre infrastructure expansion project in Accra.

The project, which includes a premier state-of-the-art Metro Ethernet Services Network in Ghana, is estimated at a cost of $15 million.

Dr Omane Boamah, who was speaking at the launch, said Internet Solutions’ state-of-the-art Metro Ethernet over Metro Fibre network would provide a highly secure, non-shared, dedicated, unrivaled high-speed connectivity to the internet and between offices in the metropolis.

“For the first time, businesses in Accra will be able to connect not only to the Global Information Highway (the Internet) with ease but their branch offices, remote Data Centres, Disaster Recovery sites, government agencies effortlessly and for as much bandwidth as they need,” he said.

The Minister said organizations would be able to connect with their internal branches and other organizations and benefit from bandwidth-hungry applications and services Banking, Oil & Gas and Manufacturing Applications; E-Commerce Services; large data file transfers, as well as high definition digital images, among others.

He said that Ghana continues to drive innovative technology growth in the sub–region, adding that the launch of the project is further proof to the world that Ghana is open for business.

“This next generation Metropolitan Ethernet network places Ghana at the forefront of the West African technology road map.

He commended Internet Solutions and their contracting partners Tech-Centrum, Infra – tele Solutions Ghana Limited and Tejas Networks.
