The premises of the Nsawam/Adoagyiri Constituency office of the National Democratic Congress(NDC) was on Wednesday afternoon turned into a boxing ring when the Constituency Deputy Women’s Organiser, Rita Gyekye in a fit of rage gave the Constituency Communication Officer, Mallam Issah Musah several dirty slaps for being rude to her.
The incident occurred during an executive meeting when a discussion turned into an intense argument. The Constituency Communications Officer who could not stand what he thought to be a disrespect from Rita to the rest of the Constituency executives during the argument, ordered her to keep quiet for she was one of the people who have been advising the MCE to ignore the suggestions of the constituency executives.
This, however did not go down well with Rita leading to an argument. The exchanges then heated up degenerating into serious verbal insults. Rita who became incensed walked straight to Mallam Musah and gave him swift hefty slaps. Mallam Issah who could not contain such an affront from a woman, quickly removed his belt and whipped Rita mercilessly with it. The scenario turned ugly as the two party capos held each other on the throat and engaged in free for all fight breaking plastic chairs in the office.
The ugly scene drew scores of people to the premises of the office to witness the disgraceful fight.
It took the other executive members over two hours to separate the fighters who both sustained injuries.
Daily Guide was told that before the start of the Ramadan, the NDC Constituency executives decided to donate some items to the Zongo Community to support their fasting.
As part of the program, the Municipal Chief Executive(MCE) Mark Annor-Dompreh was asked to contribute the gifts and make the donation to the people in the company of the executives. But after waiting for sometime and not hearing anything from the MCE, the executives led by the constituency chairman, William Attamudzi went to the MCE last week Friday to demand the items but the MCE disappointed them. Not daunted, the Constituency chairman out of frustration bought the items himself and made the donation in the company of some of the executives. The items donated included bags of rice, sugar, Milo, tins of milk, among other assorted drinks.
Rita felt slighted so during the Wednesday meeting she raised the issue accusing the chairman of making the donation without informing the MCE.
Mallam Musah would not take anything of that and accused the constituency deputy women’s organiser as one of the people who have advised the MCE not to honour their request so she should shut up. This provoked Rita to slap the Communication Officer resulting in the free for all fight.
Mallam Musah when approached accused Rita of having an affair with the MCE hence has no respect for them and speaks to them anyhow anytime they meet.
He accused the MCE also for sowing division among the executives resulting in the frequent confusions at their meetings. He threatened to teach Rita a bitter lesson if she dares show that insolence behaviour again adding that he spared her this time because he was fasting.
Mr. William Attamudzi, the constituency chairman in an interview with Daily Guide disclosed that his outfit will step into the matter and drag the deputy woman’s organiser and the communication officer to the disciplinary committee.
