KETASCO Headmaster Hot

Corruption allegations have been raised against Mr. D.K Sedanu – Kwawu, Headmaster of Keta Senior High School (KETASCO) and his supposed allies.

In a petition directed to the Board Chair of the school’s Parent and Teachers Association (PTA) and intercepted by this paper, the headmaster, since his appointment into office, has been harassing and intimidating teachers who are elected as PTA officials for choosing the path of truth and diligence.

The petition put together by victims of the Headmaster’s actions alleged that before the PTA funds were requested by the 2013 Auditor General’s Report to be separated from the school’s account, the headmaster had squandered about GH¢170, 000 belonging to the PTA without the knowledge of any executive.

“Decoupling the PTA accounts from the school’s account might be the heaviest blow to the Headmaster and his cronies. Formerly, the PTA dues were paid into the school‘s accounts. Then, executives have had to virtually kneel and beg the Headmaster for some PTA money in order to prosecute its projects”, the petition outlined.

He was also accused of taking over the PTA poultry business, a business he runs privately, using PTA facilities within the school premise.

According to the petition, the Audit report again indicted him of secretly operating a private tilapia business at the PTA’s cold store without the consent of the PTA. It was also alleged that his activities, led to the collapse of the cold store.
“The Headmaster had collaborated with the sales lady at the cold store to frustrate the work of the PTA officials and to conceal this business from them”, the petition stated.

Apart from the Headmaster, the Senior House Father, Herlot Tay and Enyonam Tay, the Assistant Head Mistress in charge of Academics popularly referred to as ‘the Trinity’ were named for withdrawing PTA cash from the bank without the signature of some signatories.

Mr. Sedanu-Kwawu, after disgracing the executives usurps the powers of the PTA Chairman and the entire executive, ask his victims to resign and subsequently block their salaries, should they refuse, the petition alleged.

However, the Headmaster when contacted denied all allegations leveled against him saying they were sentiments shared by someone who took offense from his action of trying to stop rots which were taking place in the school.

He noted that he would have loved to speak to the issue but the Board had written to him to refrain from media interactions until the response of the 2013 audit report which was under scrutiny was out.
