Edmund Delle Stages Comeback

Veteran politician, Professor Edmund Delle is set to stage a comeback for the chairmanship position of the Convention People’s Party (CPP) after an 8-year break from party politics.

The professor of dermatology at the University for Development Studies, served as the chairman of the party between 2003 and 2007.

The electoral fortunes of the Nkrumahist Party has been dwindling  but Professor Delle believes he has the capacity to turn the party’s fortunes around.

Speaking in an interview with Citi News, the former CPP chairman promised to re-brand and re-organize the party to wrestle power in 2016 if elected as Chairman of the party.

“I’m coming back into the race and my purpose is actually to unite CPP first before we think of unity in the other Nkrumahist parties.”“I’m happy that I was contacted by our current chairman with a team and the Council of Elders asking me to come and use my experience, my capacity to bring people together and of course to raise the flag of CPP high, because it seems it has been very dormant for the past two to three years,” he added.

The CPP and the People’s National Convention (PNC) in 2014 took steps to merge the two Nkrumahist parties together.

Though it has not yet been fruitful, the merger is aimed at transforming the political fortunes of the parties in the 2016 elections.
