Samsung's Galaxy A8 Is Its Slimmest Smartphone Yet

The 5.7-inch device has a metal, 0.23-inch-thick body. The front is almost all screen with extremely thin side bezels, and it's also quite light at 0.3 pounds. If this is the design direction for Samsung's future smartphones — we're looking at you, Galaxy Note 5 — we like it.

The Galaxy A8's specifications are considerably weaker than the company's most powerful device, the Galaxy S6: It sports an 8-core, Snapdragon 615 chip, 2GB of RAM, a 1080p display and a 16-megapixel rear camera (coupled with a 5-megapixel selfie cam). However, the fingerprint sensor and a 3,050mAh battery bring it close to flagship territory.

The phone doesn't come cheap, though. Its rumored price, as Engadget dug up, is a steep 3,499 yuan ($560)

The device is available for pre-order in China. Samsung did not mention global or U.S. availability yet.
