Police Burn Wee

The Central Regional Police Commander, DCOP Ransford Moses Ninson on Wednesday supervised the destruction of bags of Indian hemp, popularly known as Wee, which were seized and placed in the exhibit room of the police for over 10 years.

A court ordered the police to destroy the illegal substance.

DCOP Ninson stated that illegal substance had been in the congested exhibit room of the police for many years.

“Most of the people who were arrested in connection with the substance have been jailed and we do not see why we still have to keep the substance here,” he added.

The exercise, which started around 10:30 am, took place at the back of the regional police headquarters.

Speaking to the press after the exercise, DCOP Ninson underscored the need for people to stop dealing in narcotics since his outfit would prosecute any culprit.

The Regional Commander noted that although people do not grow Indian Hemp in the region, the dealers travel to other regions to procure it.

He added that the narcotics trade in the area had dwindled drastically due to the frequent swoop by his men and promised to continue to arrest suspects.

The exercise was witnessed by the regional police crime officer and some police personnel at the regional police headquarters.
