Attuquayefio For Eternal Rest Friday

The mortal remains of the late Sir Cecil Jones Attuquayefio would be interred on Friday at the Awudome Cemetery.

Wake will be kept tomorrow from 6.30pm at the Saint Joseph Anglican Church at Abossey Okai with the final funeral rites at the Forecourts of the State House after the burial.

The late Attuquayefio, a celebrated football tactician, who was arguably one of the nation’s most prominent soccer icons, died on May 10 this year after a protracted ailment.

He was 70.

Jones, as he is affectionately called, is fondly remembered for his extraordinary coaching exploits that led to the conquest of Africa with Accra Hearts of Oak in the year 2000, the CAF Super Cup (2001) and the CAF Confederation Cup in 2004, as well as several domestic trophies.

He also coached the senior national team, Black Stars, the national U-23 and U-17 teams, as well as clubs such Ashantigold, Accra Great Olympics and Liberty Professionals and Okwawu United.
