Fetish Priestess Chases Pastor

A Fetish priestess for Densu-river deity at Akyem Odumase near Kyebi in the East Akim Municipality of the Eastern Region, Okomfuo Afua Aduaa, is chasing one Pastor Ebenezer popularly called Osofo Ebenezer, who has his church at Amasaman Wawase in the Greater Accra Region to pacify the gods of the river following his son's guilt of stealing.

The story has it that, Pastor Ebenezer over a year ago, visited the Mintakrom Church of Pentecost Prayer Centre near Kyebi in the East Akyem Municipality of the Eastern Region popularly known as Aposs, for prayers with his 12-year-old son.

The pastor is said to be visiting the centre from time to time. During their last visit with other visitors, one of them complained of his missing mobile phone.

The missing phone created a lot of confusion in the camp with accusations and counter accusations.

One of the residents at the camp, Joseph Kwasi Fianko, alias Kwasi Gari, who was accused of stealing the phone and had vehemently denied the accusation, went to consult river Densu deity at a near-by town, Odumasi where some rituals were performed by the fetish priestess to the deity by Okomfo Afua Aduaa.

To establish his innocence, Fianko was said to have pledged to offer the gods GH¢50,000.00, 2 cows, 2 boxes of schnapps, a sheep, fowls and other items if the actual thief was identified by the gods.

Within one month, Pastor Ebenezer rushed to the camp with the son who was very sick and informed the leaders at the camp that it was his 12-year-old son who stole the phone.

It was after the confession before Fianko revealed that he had gone to the Densu shrine. Pastor Ebenezer then pleaded with some leaders of the camp to accompany him to the shrine to avoid the death of the son.

After some resistance, some of the leaders including some elders of Kwasi Komfo palace where the camp is situated reluctantly accompanied the pastor.

At the shrine, they were told about the pledge Fianko made and asked the pastor to redeem it. After passionate appeal by the pastor, the pledge was reduced to GH¢4,000.00, 10 bottles of schnapps, a sheep and other items.

Pastor Ebenezer was said to have promised to return to Accra and return to pay everything to the latter. His son who was at the point of death was also healed at the shrine.

The pastor, however, has failed to fulfill his promise for a year now and all efforts by the leaders who accompanied him to the shrine had proved futile since he had re-located from Amasaman-Wawase to an unknown place.

At the moment, an elder at the camp who is also the youth leader, Gideon Nyarko is being harassed by the shrine to either produce Pastor Ebenezer or pay the fine if he wants his peace and value his life.

Unable to withstand the pressure, Nyarko summoned Fianko and the fetish priestess before the chief of Kwasi Komfo village, Nana Dwamena Nkum II, who ruled that Nyarko should use one month to trace the runaway pastor to pay the fine or pay the fine himself.

Meanwhile, Okomfuo Aduaa has vowed to teach Pastor Ebenezer, his son and the leaders who accompanied him to the shrine a bitter lesson of their lives if they fail to pay the fine.
