Mahamas Gunman Should Have Killed His Mother And Family Members First If He Is Mad Indeed - Gen. Mosquito

The General Secretary of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketiah believes the sequence of events surrounding the incarcerated Charles Antwi in his attempt to kill President Mahama do not depict madness.

But a psychologist with the Achimota Government Hospital, Hannah Oye Afriyie tells Peace FM that the court should have first taken the man to a nearby mental hospital before prosecuting him.

She explained that in such cases, the first thing the state should have considered after arresting him was to conduct a full psychological assessment on him.

On Tuesday, an Accra Circuit Court charged him with unlawful possession of firearm.

He said he felt cheated by President Mahama following the death of Prof Atta Mills since he believed he (Charles Antwi) was supposed to be the next president of Ghana.

He told the court that the day he was picked up was the fourth time he had gone to the church to execute his attack but the president was not present.

But from the mental health expert's point of view, Hannah Oye Afriyie believes Charles Antwi might be suffering from delusion of grandeur.

But to General Mosquito, it is impossible for the supposed madman to buy a gun with the intent to kill and then failed to kill his mother and other family members first before proceeding to Accra to kill the President.

“If the man is mad, he should have killed his mother and family members in the house first; why did the supposed madman recognized not to harm his own mother, family members and people in the town but was able to move to Accra to locate where the President fellowship in anticipation to kill him? He had the sense to come back to the church after several failures to accomplish his mission; someone with this sequence of events in mind, we turn around to say he is insane. Do you think we should take it lightly as a country?” he inquired.
