Chief Psychiatrist Pleads With Accra Psychiatric Hospital Nurses To Hold On To Their Strike

Chief Psychiatrist and CEO of the Mental Health Authority, Dr Akwasi Osei is pleading with nurses at the Accra Psychiatric Hospital to “hold on” to their impending strike.

He share with them their grievances and assured that he will make the necessary plans for their salaries to be paid.

“This issue has been on my table for long. We will talk to government for the problem to be solved. I am pleading with them to exercise patience,” he said on NEAT FM’s morning show "Ghana Montie".

The nurses have served notice they will be going on strike “effective 3rd August, 2015 over the Ministry of Health’s refusal to settle our unpaid salary arrears.”

According to the nurses, ever since they were employed on September 2013, the health ministry has failed to honour their side of the bargain, compelling them to “embark on a sit-down-strike.”
