Baffour Mensah Takyi, the immediate past District Chief Executive (DCE) for Birim Central, is dead. Mensah Takyi, 58, left behind his wife, Mrs Gladys Oppong Takyi, and six children, namely Sandra, Gertrude, Pauline, Samuel, Justice and Sampson Takyi.

The one-week celebration at Akyem Achiase last weekend attracted dignitaries, including the Eastern Regional Minister, Mr Antwi-Boasiako Sekyere, a former Regional Minister and Deputy Minister of the Interior, Dr Kwasi Akyem Apea-Kubi and the Municipal Chief Executives for Birim Central and Kwahu West, Mr Kwabena Nkansah Asare and Mr Obeng Somuah respectively and the DCE for Birim South, Mr Emmanuel Kwakye.
