Multichoice Ghana Launches 2009 Face of Africa Search

This week Multichoice Ghana launched this years search for the Face of Africa 2009 at the Artist Alliance Gallery on the Labadi Road. The launch was in collaboration with Accra Brewery Ltd., whose brand, Redds, are sponsors of the show. The launch was attended mainly by people from the fashion, media and entertainment industry and the theme of the event was African art in fashion as it is obvious that models are in the business of showcasing fashion which in itself is an art form. To set the scene, five talented Ghanaian designers, Titi of Kiki Clothing, Ren of ReneQ Bespoke, Kora Award Winner Ben Nonterah of Nonterah, Melissa of HONEY BEE J COUTOURE and Arise Africas Emerging Designer of the Year, Aisha Obuobi of Christie Brown, displayed their clothes in the gallery. MNet Brand Manager, Mr. Khobane Gideon in his address said that In the past ten years, this legendary search for iconic African beauty has crossed boundaries and united audiences. It has also given young African women who dream of international fame, an opportunity to chase that dream. I have to share with you just how excited I am about this brand new season of Face of Africa. This year, M-Net has grown the television series associated with Face of Africa. From a 4 part special, it now evolves into 14 part series as we have invested further into this property to meet our audiences desire to see the whole story. Secondly, whilst M-Net has previously hosted a regional final for Face of Africa in Nigeria, it now brings the Face of Africa Finale to Nigeria for the very first time! But tonight, we celebrate the glamour, the style and the excitement of Face of Africa. And judging by the glamour and glitz already on display here tonight, I think weve made a good start! Miss Anne Sackey, PR and Publicity Manager at Multichoice Ghana explained that Aspiring entrants just need to go online to the Face of Africa website (http://www.mnetafrica.com/foa) to complete the entry form and provide photographs. Entry is open to any woman who is a citizen of a sub-Saharan country and is between the ages of 17 and 24 and who is a minimum height of 1.72m (5ft 70) and a maximum hip measurement is 96cm (37 inches) and who does not have an existing modeling contract.
