Ghanaians have been called upon to be wary of politicians who do everything possible to entrench themselves in power, no matter the consequences. The chairperson of the West Akyem Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Rev. Dr Kwame Amoa-Kumah, who made the call, said the consequences included corruption, which could negatively affect the national economy. He called for revolution of values in the country in order to instil discipline in the people. Personalities According to him, due to the disrespect people had for values, they had the audacity to say whatever pleased them on the air waves and posted such utterances on the social media without any regard for personalities. Rev. Amoa-Kumah was preaching at the burial service of Oheneba Kwasi Agyabeng Dankwa, aka Wofa Sam, a retired educationist, a veteran politician and a church leader, and his two sons at the Akyem Awisa Calvary Presbyterian Church last weekend. Flag bearer The solemn ceremony attracted people from all walks of life, including the flag bearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2016 general election, Nana Addo-Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Mr Yaw Osafo-Maafo and Mr Felix Owusu Agyapog, Ministers of Finance and Energy, respectively in the Kufuor regime Mr Kingston Akomeng Kissi, the Eastern Regional Chairman of the NPP, and other leading members of the party. Oheneba Dankwa�s death became rare and surprising as three of his children, namely Kwaku Kwabi Dankwa 53, a tutor of Oda St. Francis Senior High School (SHS), Yaw Karikari Dankwa, 59, a master at Akyem Asuom SHS and Mrs Abena Kwatemaa Baiden, 47, a businesswoman in Accra, died within a period of six weeks after his demise. Embodiment Mrs Baidoo will, however, be buried on September 25, 2015, unlike her two brothers, who were buried with their father. In a tribute read by Mr Osafo-Maafo, on behalf of the NPP, he said Oheneba Dankwa was a strong member of the NPP and an embodiment of the Dankwa-Busia tradition in West Akyem. He noted that on the historic August 6, 1947, when the UGCC was being formally inaugurated, Oheneba Dankwa was a young teacher who travelled all the way from Agona Nsaba to Saltpond to attend the ceremony. According to Mr Osafo-Maafo, Oheneba Dankwa was a strong pillar of the NPP in the Akyem Swedru Constituency, who held many positions, including constituency chairman, Council of Elders Chairman and �father of the party�. Nana Akufo-Addo personally donated GH�1,000 to the deceased�s children and family members while his entourage also donated GH�1,400.
