Governance expert, Mr. Kofi B. Kukubor, has taken a swipe at the leadership of the Ghana Association (GMA) for allowing its members to embark on strike action which is greatly affecting the health service delivery in the country.
Mincing no words, Mr. Kukubor called on the government of President John Dramani Mahama to eject those striking doctors from the state-owned bungalows.
“If these doctors are on strike now, then close their files and eject them from the state bungalows they are occupying,” Mr. Kukubor said this when speaking on BTA/FTA’s Africa Live Show on Tuesday August 4, 2015.
The visibly disturbed expert said the country has tolerated certain actions which are gradually gaining roots and are becoming more or less accepted even though they are wrong according to the laws of the land.
According to Mr. Kukubor, in every public sector workers are required to give three months’ notice before resignation without any clause or conditions attached but the doctors have done otherwise.
He cautioned government to reverse the negotiations it has started with the doctors to clean the system that has been corrupted for years.
He added that the negotiation with government has stalled because the doctors lacked the necessary negotiation skills.
An economist, Dr. Kofi Orleans Lindsey, who was also the same show advised the government to clean the public sector as it develops new conditions of service for all the sectors across board.
