Nii Afotey-Agbo Should 'Shut Up' - Says Kwesi Pratt

Managing Editor of the Insight Newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jnr has taken a swipe at the Greater Accra Regional Minister, Nii Laryea Afotey Agbo for meddling in chieftaincy issues in the Ga state.

The veteran journalist speaking on Adom FM on Thursday said he has failed to fathom why the Minister would try to intervene in chieftaincy matters knowing very well it is against the 1992 constitution. “It is not up to a minister to support a chief… that is in violation of the constitution… he cannot determine who is a chief and who is not…,” he said The La-Dadekotopon MP claimed that Nii Adama Latse II and not recently installed Dr Kelvin Nii Tackie Abia Tackie is the legitimate Chief of the Ga State.

“If anyone thinks he was doing something good, he would have informed the Regional Security Council while installing another chief…we want peace in the Ga State and must say that Nii Adama Latse is the legitimate Ga Mantse”, he said. But these comments, Kwesi Pratt said were unnecessary as the Minister is contributing to the building up of tension in the region.

“He should shut up… he has crossed his boundary…since when did it become the responsibility of a politician to determine who a chief is under the 1992 constitution…?,” he quizzed.
