Members Of TEWU Are Not On Strike

The Teachers and Educational Workers Union (TEWU) of the Trades Union Congress, has not declared any industrial action as being peddled, Mr Ralph Apaaya, General Secretary of the union said in Accra on Thursday. He said if the need arises, the union would make its position clear after its impending Quadrennial Delegates conference scheduled for Sunday, August 9 to Thursday August 13 in Kumasi. Mr Apaaya in an interview with Ghana News Agency charged members to stay focus on their jobs and not to allow themselves to be dragged into actions, which we have not agreed upon He said at the unions recent regional delegates conference, common complaints that came out included refusal of Ghana Education Service to promote those who have improved their educational standards, lack of government attention to educational delivery, and that since 2010 condition of service of members have not been reviewed. Mr Apaaya said these and many others have been collated and would be presented at the conference for discussions and the outcome would be announced. He therefore urged members to exercise restraint and to allow the appropriate structures to be put in place to facilitate their work.
