Asantehene Urges Chiefs To Uphold The Truth

he Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu the Second, has asked chiefs to uphold the truth and work together with their people to bring development to the communities. He said they should always stand for what was fair and just, pointing out that it was by so doing that they could get the people behind them, to foster unity and peace. Otumfuo Osei Tutu gave the advice when the newly-installed Anantahene of Kumasi, Baffour Agyei Fosu Twitwiakwa the Second, swore the oath of allegiance to him at his Manhyia Palace. The new chief, known in private life as Mr Atta Agyei, 40, is a private legal practitioner. The Anantahene, traditionally plays the role of a warrior and the chief bodyguard of the Asantehene, and belongs to the Gyaase Division of Asanteman. Otumfuo Osei Tutu urged chiefs to wage war on poverty, illiteracy, diseases and the indignity of under-development. He said it was important for them to rally their communities to identify felt needs, and design strategies to tackle them. He urged the new Anantahene to work hard, and with passion, promote socio-economic growth, not only in his traditional area, but in Asanteman and the nation at large.
