Ghanaians To Eat Kenkey To Raise Funds For Charity

Some Ghanaians are expected to converge at the Efua Sutherland Children's Park on Saturday, August 8 to eat kenkey to raise funds for a charitable cause. The event, put together by Tatas And Friends Foundation, is part of the second anniversary celebrations of the foundation, which is a non-profit organisation that focuses on giving back to society. Dubbed, Kenkey For The Needy, the initiative will raise funds for the Gbeogo School of the Deaf in Bolgatanga, in the Upper East region. Organisers said in a statement that, All we are saying is although we eat kenkey every day, this time you can eat it and reach out to someone as well. The event will feature a Kenkey Auctioning session; Kenkey and its various accompaniments, music performances, video games and a host of other activities. Caritas Naa Ayele Aryee, CEO/Founder of the foundation told Myjoyonline.com that, they hope to raise about GHc10,000 for the Gbeogo School of the Deaf. It's our second anniversary and this event is to mark it and help us reach out to the deaf. Weve been running this foundation on social media for the past two years. We raised all our previous funds from there for all the two years, Ms Aryee explained. She added that, this time, we decided to have our first major off social media fundraiser. We just want to help this school the best way we can do. The Tatas And Friends Foundation Founder is grateful for all the support received towards the Kenkey For The Needy event. To those who have donated to make this event a success God bless you we are grateful. To those who want to donate or partake in the event, please troop to the venue in your numbers, she urged.
