Bloody Clash At ACP-Pokuase

Tension, which if not doused would bust-up into a free-for-all bloodletting between some heavily-built youngmen (landguards), whose daily pre-occupation is to torment residence and the family of Nii Kofi Apenteng family, and the family is heightening over a large parcel of land lying off ACP-Pokuase, on the main Accra-Nsawam road in the Greater Accra region.

The family is however pointing accusing fingers at the COP Rose Bio Atinga, the Director General of Administration at the Police Headquarters and one Mike Similao, whom the family is rubbing wit with in court as the masterminds behind the daily oppressions on the 439 acres land.

The family alleged that Silmilao, who claims to be enforcing a court ruling, is drawing his powers from the police higher-up and has flooded the land with more than two hundred (200) gun-wielding landguards to unleash terror on any potential investor who tries to develop the land.

Aside some of the known landguards, dreaded Jerry and Stone, who commandeers the troops, and some hoodlums, Odai and Armah from the Odai Ntow Family, Similao, the paper gathered, has also sort the services of some elements within the Military, as well as the Police to give his act a semblance of legitimacy.

Nana Adu, one of the family members who came to the office of this paper to narrate the family’s ordeal in the hands of the tormentors said “we are calling on the IGP to investigate this case before it reaches a point where, the youth, feeling they can’t be protected by the security agencies, decide to protect themselves”.

But Mike Similao, responding to the allegations told this paper via telephone yesterday that “All they are saying is false. When you check from the court records; apart from Paulina Darko, whom I took to court over my land, I have been the defendant in all the cases. They have tormented me for 22-years and now, perhaps seeing defeat staring them in the face they have run to you”.

He also denied the allegation that he had flooded the land with landguards when he said: “even tomorrow (today) we are meeting with the Madina Police. If you have time you can join and you will hear everything for yourself. I have not sent any landguards to the land. They are rather harassing me with landguards and preventing me from going on to the land”.

The Case Of Dauda

Contrary to what is being bandied about in sections of the media, that one Dauda is the man recruiting landguards for the Nii Kofi Apenteng Family, our findings revealed that Dauda bought the land for his elder brother as far back as 2006 but never developed it until recently.

“Dauds has never brought any landguard to any land so anyone interested can go and check. It is surprising that his name is even coming up in this case, because Dauda is innocent”, our scout gathered.

Personal Attack

Nana Adu told this paper that just four days ago, whilst inspecting about seven acre land that a bulldozer was allegedly pulling down structures on, the landguards stopped him from going on with the inspection on the excuse that they needed clearance from their boss before they could allow him access to the land.

But for the timely intervention of the Madina Police, Nana Adu said, the landguards would have butchered him.

How Similao, the Nii Kofi Apenteng noted, came by four acre of land, and later metamorphosed it into 439 acres, is what has seen the family and Similao in-and-out of court for the many years and counting the case is traveling.

Meanwhile, all efforts to reach COP Rose Bio Atinga for her side of the story hit on a snag as calls to her 0244… did not go through.

Stay tuned, as the story has just begun.
