Vodafone Ghana Foundation in partnership with TinyDavid Ghana Limited, has launched a mobile application - SnooCode - Ghanas first mobile app that enables the ambulance service to easily and accurately locate victims in emergency situations.
SnooCode, one of the technology projects under the Foundations Mobile 4 Good initiative, is aimed at reducing the response time for emergency service providers irrespective of the hindrances in Ghanas addressing system.
Speaking at the launch held in Accra, Group Trustee of the Vodafone Foundation, Lord Michael Hastings said:
To us, this presents a great stroke of inspiration in helping to decrease the mortality rate in Ghana. It is in every way a representation of what we stand for as a company; it shows our commitment to be consistently interested in the well-being of the communities in which our employees live and work.
Director of the Ghana National Ambulance Service, Prof. Ahmed Nuhu Zakaria, showered praise on Vodafone and TinyDavid for implementing a timely solution to help the Ghana Ambulance Service improve its services.
Educating the public on how the SnooCode application works, Chief Executive of TinyDavid, Sesinam Dagadu said The app generates a genuine and secure code that makes sure no two locations in the country have the same sequence of numbers and letters.
Whenever a person calls the emergency service for assistance, the code makes it easier for the Emergency Medical Team to navigate the exact location of the victim and deliver immediate help.
