Messi Gives Out 315,000...

Lionel Messi has made a major donation to the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) in an amazing show of kindness towards impoverished children around the world.

The Barcelona star presented a cheque of 4.5million Argentine Pesos (£315,000) via a video link that was broadcast on Spanish television show 'Un Sol Para Los Chicos' (A Sun For The Children) - the equivalent of Children In Need.

The generous donation comes as the Argentine playmaker prepares to launch his latest assault on setting yet more records in a Barcelona shirt, with Luis Enrique's side set to face Sevilla in the UEFA Super Cup on Tuesday night.

Messi ended a draining 2014-15 campaign in a similar vein to the previous one - in disappointment with his national team - having failed at the final hurdle with Argentina in a major tournament.

The 28-year-old was left apoplectic after Tata Martino was unable to guide the South Americans to the Copa America title, losing to hosts Chile on penalties in the final.

But it would appear that Messi knows how to put that setback, alongside the World Cup heartbreak against Germany 12 months earlier, into perspective with a grand offering that shows he has immense class both on and off the field.

Barcelona begin their quest to retain the La Liga title with a visit to Athletic Bilbao, before they play Getafe and round off August with a home clash against Malaga.
