The ruling National Democratic Congress [NDC] Organizer for Kwahu South Constituency in the Eastern Region, Smart Somuah Nkansah is accusing District Chief Executive [DCE], Hon. Joseph Omari as a member of the opposition NPP.

According to the NDC Constituency Organizer, apart from the fact that they see the DCE as incompetent, he [Joseph Omari] is always seen in the company of the opposition NPP members and despises his own members.

“The DCE has never involved any NDC executive in any project he has commissioned; he always goes to commission projects with NPP executives and they [NPP] take credit for the projects. I can say that partially he is a member of the NPP because for instance he sent Bormen NPP Chairman to represent him during the court trial,” he asserted.

Speaking on Okay Fm’s Ade Akye Abia Morning Show after his release from prison, Smart Nkansah alleged that the DCE might have bribed the police officer in charge of the case and the judge who presided over the trial to send them to prison.

He explained it was them that reported the DCE to the police for splashing ‘pepper’ spray in the eyes of some of the constituency executives and it remains strange to them that the police and the judge were able to turn the case against them since the DCE never reported any case to the police.

He added that the way the police prepared the docket to incriminate them and arraigned before the circuit court convinces him that the DCE might have paid some money to the police and the judge to send them to prison.

“The police officer we first complained to called me around 9pm that we will be going to court the next day without knowing the case had been turned against us; we didn’t know the police, DCE and the judge had decided already to accuse us of stealing the DCE’s money and other items; because of money we were sent to the prison custody unduly,” he alleged.

Smart Nkansah however insisted that the DCE wants to collapse the NDC in Kwahu South; adding the NDC constituency executives are not prepared to work with the DCE in the district.

“We are afraid to work with him because he has sworn to make 90 percent of NPP members assembly men in the district; we the executives are not prepared to work with him and besides we cannot recall what exactly he has done in the district,” he alleged.
