NDC Constituency Chairman And Five Others Granted Bail

The Mpreaso Circuit Court Presided over by Ms Mariam Saleh Sinare has granted bail of GHC 8, 000.00 each with surety to be justified to the Mpreaso Constituency Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and five others. The six accused persons were charged on five counts of conspiracy to commit crime, unlawful entry, assaulting a public officer, stealing and causing damage. The suspects, who pleaded not guilty to the charges, were remanded in police custody last Friday. They include Mahamadu Salifu, the Constituency Chairman, Mark Somuah Nkansah, Organizer. The rest are Sulemana Nuhu, Effah Osei Bonsu, Kwame Awuah and Haruna Seidu all constituency executive members of the party. The counsel for the suspects, Mr Francis Savier Sosu, pleaded with the court for bail for his clients. The six suspects and three others who failed to appear before the court, were last Friday remanded in police custody when they conspired and unlawfully entered the Kwahu South District Chief Executive (DCE), Mr Joseph Omari�s office and assaulted him, stole his mobile phone and an amount of GH 700.00 and also unlawfully caused damage to the key lock to the DCE�s office door. The suspects alleged that, the DCE brought a pepper spray from his drawer and sprayed it on them. They are to appear before the court on Friday August 14 for trial.
