Power Minister Would Be Fired If He Fails To Solve Dumsor Mahama

President John Dramani Mahama has claimed that Power Minister, Dr. Kwabena Donkor is aware he would be fired if he fails to end the power crisis, ‘Dumsor’ by the close of this year.

The President speaking on Uniiq FM said he continuously reminds the power minister of his promise to vacate his post if the crisis does not end by December 2015. "I always remind my Power Minister that his head is on the block because he openly declared he would solve the power crisis," he said.

He also emphasized that the days of cheap hydro power are over and Government is putting in more than 1000 MW emergency power and that total supply will be 1500 MW. “Hydro power will now become backup power, thermal will be the main source”, Mahama affirmed.

As part of the solutions to banishing ‘Dumsor’, President Mahama called for the need to install more prepaid meters. "We need to put in more prepaid meters, people must stop stealing power because that makes power expensive".

He therefore said the Power Minister is on track and together with him they will fix the power situation.
