Subsequently, Messrs., lemna, Minneapolis of the United States of America, was contracted to undertake feasibility studies in 2003, which report was completed in 2005.

The project, estimated at 118 million dollars at the onset, would takeoff in 2017.

Currently, the African Development bank (ADB) is supporting the completion of the feasibility studies with euros 2,071,000 million under its African Water and legal Support facilities, Mr. Francis Adjei, a lead consult and co-project manager said the cost might vary before or after the completion of the project.

He expressed the government’s readiness to ensure the timely execution of the project for the benefit of the people.

Notwithstanding the delays, the deputy minister was optimistic the project would serve its purpose.

Mr. Frederick Addaa, Director of Water at the ministry described the initiative as a novelty, adding that there were few of its kind in the sub-region.

“This is in line with Government’s commitment to provide water to all by 2015” he said.
