There was prolonged laughter at the Odumase Krobo Circuit Court when the accused said �My Lord, I am guilty of all the three counts and there is nothing I can say to defend myself. I really committed the crime�.
�My plea, however, is for you to be very lenient with me. In other�words, let me go in for just some few months and that will be enough for me�.
The Presiding Judge, Mr Frank Gbeddy, however, sentenced Samuel Narh to four months each on the three counts of being on a premises for unlawful purposes, stealing, and being in possession of stolen property.
The sentences are to run concurrently.
The Prosecutor, Chief Inspector Emmanuel Tetteh told the court that Narh, 30, is unemployed and lives at Somanya while the complainant, Margaret Tetteh , a trader, resides at Korletsom, a suburb of Odumase Krobo.
According to C/Inspector Tetteh on August 1, 2015 at about 2:30 a.m, Narh went to the complainant�s house to steal her fowls from their coop.
He said during the act, the complainant�s dogs barked continuously until she and her family members came out to check what was going on .
C/Inspector Tetteh said the complainant�s son saw Narh in front of the coop with a sack at his back.
He consequently raised an alarm and Narh, sensing danger, took to his heels and managed to escape.
When the complainant and his son checked the fowls in the coop, three of them valued at GH�120.00 were missing.
C/ Inspector Tetteh said later in the day, Narh was arrested at the Agomanya Market with 10 fowls suspected to have been stolen and during interrogation, he admitted stealing them.
He said the complainant later identified one of the stolen fowls as hers.
The court, therefore, authorised the police to sell the fowls at the normal price and put the money into government chest.
