Senior High Schools In Bibiani Record Poor Grades

Senior high schools (SHSs) in the Bibiani District, of the Western Region, have reportedly been recording poor grades in the West Africa School Certificate Examination (WASCE) for some time now, and this year’s was no exception.

The Member of Parliament (MP) for the Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai Constituency, Kingsley Aboagye Gyedu, who appears appalled by the development, has therefore, stepped in with the view to reversing the trend.

In a chat with journalists on the unfortunate development, he outlined a number of initiatives being put together by his office, in collaboration with the district education authorities, to improve the lot of schools in the district.

He said as a first step, he will launch ‘Operation Best Senior High Education’ in the district – a move he hopes will spur on the students to be more studious.

Furthermore, he said, all SHS students in the area would be made to enjoy free vacation classes.

"Additionally, I will establish a fund to sponsor all the students who score between aggregate 6 and 10 in the WASSCE. They will be assisted to continue their education to the university level,” he stressed.

He said it is only through an improved and thriving education sector that the nation can produce quality human resource, adding that no stone must be left unturned in the pursuit of that goal.
