Machomen Appeal To Doctors To End Strike

Macho for Good and Justice, a body building group in the promotion of peace, have joined the clarion call pleading with doctors to end their strike and return to work in the interest of the ordinary Ghanaian. Apparently frustrated by the protracted strike and its associated consequences, the Machomen stormed the Graphic Onlines Kumasi office to plead with the doctors to return to work while negotiation continue. The group led by its president, Gilbert Ntiamoah (Polos), said it was important that government softened its entrenched stance to meet the doctors half-way. There appears to be a problem with trust from both sides and none trusts each other. In spite of that, we still think that if they move away from their entrenched positions, the problems could be solved, Polos told Graphic Online. He urged Ghanaians to stop daring the doctors to resign because if they carry through their threats it was the ordinary person that would suffer. He said the doctors could decide to travel en mass to other parts of the world where their services could be needed but the sick may even die before seeking help outside of the country. Mr Ntiamoah also appealed to government spokespersons to stop inciting the public against the doctors and allow for cool heads to prevail. The national president of the machomen said flexing of muscles between government and the doctors on who is right will lead the country nowhere. He said if the doctors finally decide to go back to work, it must not be construed to be weakness but they must be applauded while government keeps faith with its promise to build trust.
