The Nkoranza Municipal Assembly has since 2013 disbursed more than GH₡ 100,000.00 disability fund to members of the Ghana Federation of persons with disabilities (PWDs) in the Municipality. Madam Stella Amoatemaa, Municipal Chief Executive announced this at a ceremony at Nkoranza in the Brong-Ahafo Region, during the presentation of GH₡ 20,137.87 cheque to the Federation. The disability fund is two per cent of the District Assembly�s share of the District Assemblies Common Fund, to support persons with disabilities through the Federation to provide beneficiaries with employable skills in their communities. Madam Amoatemaa stated that the amount would benefit 61 registered members of the Federation in the Municipality. She therefore urged PWDs in the Municipality who have not registered with the Federation to do so to enable them to benefit from the fund. Mr Douglas Musah, Municipal Social Welfare Officer who received the cheque on behalf of the Federation commended the Management of the Assembly for the timely release of the money. He said while some of the members are engaged in various economic ventures, others are using their share to further their education. Mr Edward Gidigo, Municipal Assembly Coordinating Director advised the executives of the Federation to be guided by transparency in their activities, particularly to ensure equitable distribution of the fund to maintain the trust and confidence reposed in them by the members.
