The Kumasi Central Prison has taken delivery of a cheque of Seven Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHS 7,000.00) and a brand new LG air conditioner valued at Three Thousand, Two Hundred and Ninety Ghana Cedis (GHS 3,290.00) from the Jackson College of Education, one of the leading and fastest growing Colleges of Education in Ghana. The donation, which forms part of the college�s quest to help transform the inmates of the prison, was in response to an appeal by the Director of the place for an air-conditioner for the prison�s dispensary, to prevent their drugs from spoilage due to excessive heat from the adjoining kitchen. Over the years, the Kumasi Central Prison has received various donations from the college, including 100 beds and mattresses, canopies, chairs, food items, toiletries and cash donations. Receiving the donation on behalf of the prison service, the chaplain of the Kumasi Central Prisons, Rev. Supt. Canon Paa Kwesi Ansah was full of appreciation to Jackson College of Education for their interest in the welfare and transformation of the inmates and the prison service at large. He thanked the authorities of the college for always responding promptly to their requests. The Director and Principal, Prof. Ebenezer A. Jackson and Mrs. Theodosia W. Jackson respectively, in an interview with the media after the presentation, said they were aware of the numerous constraints and challenges that most prisons in Ghana face, which do not help them to execute their transformational role to inmates effectively. �With such support, many inmates would come out as reformed persons for the good of society�, Mrs. Jackson said. She added that the Jackson College of Education will continue to offer such support to the prison service. In a related development, the college on the same day donated a cheque of Ten Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHS 10,000.00) to the SOS Children�s Village in Kumasi as part of the college�s customary donations to the orphanage. Receiving the cheque on behalf of the SOS Children�s Village, the manager, Mr. Eric Osa Laate, recounted the role that the college and its co-founders have played in ensuring that the village is always adequately resourced to cater for the needs of its children. He said that Prof. Ebenezer A. Jackson and Mrs. Theodosia W. Jackson, have been very instrumental in the survival of the home. He mentioned that they have donated unqualified amount of resources to the village. Mrs. Theodosia Jackson, who is also a board member of the SOS Children�s Village, said that the college will continue to support the village at all times to assist the children to acquire hope for a brighter future. The Principal assured the village that the college will increase its support to the facility; and appealed to other benevolent organizations to complement the effort of the college to put smiles on the faces of the helpless children in the village. Both presentations were done on behalf of the college by the Director and Principal, accompanied by some head office staff members.
