CODEO Observers Undergo Refresher Training For District Assembly Elections

The Coalition of Domestic Election Observers (CODEO) is conducting refresher training workshops for close to 700 election-day observers who will be deployed to observe the up-coming District Assembly Elections scheduled for September 1, 2015. The refresher training, which is taking place from Monday August 24 to Friday, August 29, is taking place nation-wide in all ten (10) regional capitals. The overall objective of the training is to prepare CODEO observers to enable them observe the up-coming elections. CODEO will be observing the upcoming elections in 86 selected districts throughout the ten regions in the country. The exercise forms part of CODEOs comprehensive and overall support to the 2015 District Assembly Elections with a focus on promoting the participation of women, youth and persons with disability. CODEO has already been observing the pre-election environment since October 2014 and has been sharing its observation findings to the general public through the mass media. On Election Day, September 1, CODEO accredited observers will be stationed at sampled polling stations in all the 86 districts from the start of voting to the counting of votes. In addition, there will be CODEO roaming observers in all the districts. The Coalitions 2015 support activities have been made possible with the generous support of the American people through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
