I Will Appoint Nana Addo As Vice Prez If... - NDC Prez Aspirant

Presidential ambitious George Boateng from the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), has ahead of the party’s vetting and its subsequent November 7 Presidential and Parliamentary primaries listed his possible Vice President when he wins 2016 election as President.

According to him, he has in mind the largest opposition NPP’s Presidential candidate for the 2016 elections, Nana Akufo-Addo and the founder of the NDC break-away NDP, the former first lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings as his possible Vice President and Senior Presidential advisor respectively.

Speaking on Okay Fm’s "Ade Akye Abia" Morning Show, George Boateng averred it is time to introduce new democratic revolution into Ghana’s political arena; saying he will change the NDC’s constitution and manifesto to have ‘all inclusive government which can allow him to appoint his Vice President from any opposition party leader he feels has good ideas to help his government.

“I am introducing a new democratic revolution into Ghana and I will change my party’s constitution to an all inclusive government. I can even appoint Nana Akufo-Addo as my Vice President; he will do the day-to-day running of the administration like the British system of Prime Minister,” he asserted.

He maintained that when he gets the nod from the NDC delegates on November 7, he will run the 2016 elections as the only name on the ballot paper and after he emerges as the President-elect for NDC in 2016, he will then appoint his Vice President to be sworn-in as well.

He was of the firm believe that Ghana’s constitution does not enforce a Presidential candidate to choose a Running Mate before elections; thus, “I won’t appoint my Running Mate when I get the NDC nod but I will appoint the Vice President when I am elected as President.”

Emphasizing on his Cabinet to form his government, George Boateng insisted “Nana Akufo-Addo will be my Vice President and Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings as my Senior Presidential advisor.”

He therefore concluded that the Vice Presidents the country have had in the past to the current administration are not doing their work well because they are supposed to run the administration while the President act ceremonial by soliciting for donors outside to help the country.
