Is It An Abomination For K Agyepong To Drive A New Car? - Kwesi Pratt Quizzes NPP

Kwesi Pratt, Managing Editor of the Insight newspaper, has rubbished calls by some leading members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for the party to internalize the recent alleged financial misappropriation by the party leadership.

Speaking on "Kokrokoo" on Peace FM, Kwesi Pratt asserted that the NPP is not a private institution but rather a public political party and so, any kind of financial misappropriation deserve the public eye.

He was commenting on allegations that Treasurer of the New Patriotic Party Abankwah Yeboah and the party's Vice National Chairman Freddy Blay have diverted some funds belonging to the party without due process.

According to him, "nobody can say that party account is an internal matter and should be dealt with only internally. It is not proper. Under the laws of Ghana, party money matters. Party account and so forth is not an internal matter. It cannot be an internal matter.”

He also cautioned the party members who keep blaming the National Chairman Paul Afoko and the General Secretary Kwabena Agyepong for every strife that arises in the party.

Mr. Pratt, in an attempt to melt the cold in the NPP, wondered why the party members are cynical about the wealth of Kwabena Agyepong.

To him, he met the NPP General Secretary in the 80s and "he was an engineering consultant long before the NPP was formed. He won huge contracts. Do you mean Kwabena Agyapong can’t buy a car? So, it’s an abomination for Kwabena Agyapong to drive a new car.”

He therefore prayed the NPP puts an end to the factionalism in the party which, to him, is the main cause of all their problems.
