NDC Communication Director Calls For Adequate Resources For Grassroots

Mr Bright Botchwey, Gomoa East Communication Director of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has made a passionate appeal to the National and Regional Executives of the Party, to adequately resource constituencies, branches and wards, to enable them work effectively. He pointed out that the party has not excelled as expected at the grassroots level, due to inadequate logistics and financial support.. Mr Botchwey made the appeal when he addressed the Press at Agona Swedru to react to accusations that the grassroot of the Party was not performing creditably. The Gomoa East Communication Director said NDC needed to be revived, re-organized and restructured to make it more attractive and interested for Ghanaians to retain the party in 2016 elections. He said the results of the recent District Level Elections should be a wake-up call for the NDC to undertake an aggressive membership drive to win more supporters for the parry. According to the Communication Director, though the District Level Election was non- partisan, sympathizers of the party who contested at most electoral areas in the constituency failed to win. He said though Gomoa East District had seen more developmental projects in the areas of Education, Health, Roads and other social interventions, yet the party was losing grounds in the area due, to inadequate resources to the local branches to undertake organizational work. Mr Botchwey said the neglect of the grassroots of the NDC could cause havoc, adding that the party was struggling to survive at the constituency, branch and ward levels due to lack of support. He appealed to MMDCEs, MPs, and other party sympathizers to help resource the grassroots, to enable them function properly. Mr Botchwey urged the MMDCEs and MPs to work hard for the party to retain power in 2016 to continue its work to promote the socio-economic advancement of the country. He appealed to the President Mr John Dramani Mahama to use his power as leader of the Party to ensure that NDC won in the 2016 elections.
