50% Increase In SHS Feeding Grant

The feeding grant caters for purchases of food items, cooking utensils and gas, among others. The increase breaks the impasse that had developed over the issue between the Ghana Education Service and the Conference of Heads of Assisted Secondary Schools (CHASS). While CHASS demanded GH1.20 per student, the GES stuck to GH1.00. Meanwhile, following the increase, the Ministry of Education has asked heads of public institutions to ensure that the students are provided with nutritious meals. They should also ensure that basic cooking equipment are provided in the dining halls.
