I Feel Vindicated Chris Ackumey

Accra-based lawyer, Chris Ackumey says he feels vindicated after investigations by Anas Aremeyaw Anas revealed that corruption in the judiciary is a reality and not a perception.

34 judges have been implicated for taken bribes in the latest exposé by the investigative journalist.

A yet-to-be released video according to reports shows very notable judges who have been involved in high profile cases in the country receiving bribes while others were involved in other corruption-related activities to influence judgment.

This has generated a lot of controversy with many calling for the persecution of the judges for trading justice.

But Chris Ackumey who was lampooned for alleging corruption in the judiciary expressed satisfaction in the work done by the investigative journalist.

“When I said there was corruption in the judiciary, no one took me serious but thank God Anas did and now hallelujah I have been vindicated,” he added.

The legal practitioner said the investigation is a test to the Chief Justice, Georgina Wood to ensure the culprits are brought to book.

"The Chief Justice must show gratitude to Anas; she was looking for evidence and she has gotten it thus must act” he stressed.

Chris Ackumey said the latest findings will not affect the credibility of the judiciary since there are highly incorruptible judges who would never take bribes from anybody.

“I still hold the judiciary in high esteem and I have confidence in the Chief Justice to sanitize the judiciary,” he stated.
