Four in hot race in Lower Manya

Four aspirants have submitted nomination forms to contest the forthcoming Lower Manya NDC parliamentary primary in November. They are the incumbent Member of Parliament (MP), Mr Ebenezer Okletey Terlabi, the former Lower Manya Krobo Municipal Chief Executive, Mr Isaac Agbo-Tetteh, a businessman, Mr Geoffrey Narh-Korli and a medical practitioner, Dr Joseph Teye Nuertey. In separate interviews with the Daily Graphic at Odumase Krobo, they outlined their visions and programmes for the constituency when given the nod. Ebenezer Okletey Terlabi Mr Terlabi said as MP, he was providing selfless leadership for the people in his constituency and there were no fears that he would not be retained. I have personally seen my present position, the MP for the area, as an honour done me and I also need to reciprocate this gesture by serving their interest as best I can. So far I have discharged my duties creditably as MP and that is why I strongly believe that I am in the good books of the people and appeal for another opportunity to continue and complete the agenda I have put in place for the area, the MP said Mr Terlabi, who was once the Deputy Minister for the Eastern Region, Deputy Minister for Defence and Deputy Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, said he had endeared himself to the people in his constituency as he was giving back to them what they needed from him as their representative in parliament. Former municipal chief executive The youngest of the contestants, Isaac Agbo-Tetteh, 39, who is a former Municipal Chief Executive, is sure to win the primary to represent his people in parliament. He said he was the obvious choice for the people for the 2016 general election because none of the other three contestants had anything to showcase to the people. He said he had been tried and tested, and had proved to the constituents of Lower Manya Krobo that he was capable. He said the numerous development projects undertaken during his four-year tenure of office as DCE/MCE attested to that. Notable among them are the assembly hall complex of the Krobo Girls SHS and Akro Senior High School, Agormanya market stalls, fencing, walling and tiling of the Lower Manya Krobo Municipal Assembly premises, 44 six-unit classroom blocks for basic schools, CHPS compounds and dormitories of SHS to mention but a few. Mr Agbo-Tetteh said as a young and very exuberant man, he was capable of representing the people and appealed to the teeming supporters to get him in Parliament to continue the good work he started as the last district chief executive (DCE) and the first municipal chief executive (MCE) of the Lower Manya Krobo Assembly. The former MCE, however, cautioned his followers and advocates to conduct a campaign devoid of insults and personal attacks since the campaign team needed more time to showcase the numerous projects he executed as former political and administrative head of the Lower Manya Krobo municipality. The campaign should be issues-based to showcase development projects I executed to my credit, he stressed.
