Satellites Shut Door On Tawrick

Hearts of Oak midfield prodigy, Tawrick Djibril may not realise a dream appearance at the next U-20 World Cup next month. The player, whose showing last season raised calls for his inclusion into the youth team may have to wait for the next generation of U-20 group. Mr Jordan Anagbla, Chairman of the Black Satellites Management Committee speaking to the Graphic Sports confirmed that the player could not be included in the final list due to technical reasons. According to Anagbla, the player's name was not included in a provisional list of 40 which was earlier sent to the Africa Football Confederation (CAF) in March this year in accordance with the rules of the competition, explaining that the rules did not allow players whose names were not on the provisional list to be included in the final list. "In fact, all players who were not on the provisional list are not eligible for the World Cup in Egypt. "When the names of the provisional list were being compiled by the coach, Tawrick was out of the country and even when he returned, he was not playing for Hearts and could not have been included in the team. Indeed, some of the late invitations to the Satellites camp who even played in some of the friendlies for the team cannot make it into the final squad" Anagbla said. Tawrick, whose lightening skill was a source of delight to patrons of a Premier League which was plagued by a dearth of star performers last season was largely seen by many as a talent who should be a key factor in the Satellites build-up. "Even though I have heard the agitation for my inclusion into the team, and I will be glad to accept it, if the coaches invite me", Tawrick stated. Meanwhile, according to Mr Anagbla, the final list for the World Cup squad would be sent to CAF next Wednesday.
