Erect Busts Of All "Corrupt" Judges At Forecourt of Supreme Court - Lawyer Ampaw

Private legal practitioner, Lawyer Maurice Ampaw has suggested to government and the judicial service to build 'statues' for the 32 Court Judges cited for bribery in ace investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas recent undercover work.

He explained – “that will serve as a lesson to other corrupt judges whose cups are not full yet and also go down in history as Ghana’s corrupt judges’ statues”.

The judicial service and state must build statues for all the corrupt judges. That should be constructed at the forecourt of the Supreme Court,” he added.

Maurice Ampaw speaking on NEAT FM’s morning show "Ghana Montie", noted that Anas' visuals exposing the rot in the judiciary did not come to him as a surprise at all since he is aware of the 'Justice for Sale' trade that has been going on in the judicial service but did not have the guts to fight it because he was scared of losing his license.

He admitted there is corruption in the judicial service – “but it is not every judge or legal practitioner that is corrupt” – adding that he fully support Anas’ work to expose corrupt judges.

He told host Kwasi Aboagye that – court clerks despite the judges’ knowledge lead them into temptations – “the clerks breed corruption in the courts, sometimes judges are not even aware of”.

The popular lawyer opined that, sometimes the money charged by the clerks does not even get to the judge – “The clerks sometimes play smart on clients whose cases are genuine and extort money from them without the judge's consent”.

He also disclosed most lawyers also don't even study cases – “All they do is to call the judge in charge of a case and pay him off. Our lawyers and clerks breed bribery and corruption in our judicial service”.

Lawyer Ampaw stated that – “Clerks are judges evil” – “they [clerks] want to leave a luxurious lifestyle at the expense of the judges”.
