2015 GHALSAC Games Held

Utrak Savings and Loans Company emerged the overall winner at the 2015 games of the Ghana Association of Savings and Loans Companies (GHALSAC). The Kumasi-based microfinance institution beat off competition from Best Point Savings and Loans and Opportunity International who placed second and third respectively. This is the second edition of the sporting event. The games which took place at the Lizzy Sports Complex in Accra on September 12, 2015, saw teams from the various savings and loans companiesparticipating in games such as Football, Draft, Spoon and lime, Relay race, Volley ball, Ludo, Penalty kicks and Oware. Some participating teams were Beige Capital, First Trust, First Allied, Opportunity International, Best Point, Women�s World Banking, Global Access, Utrak, Abii National, Adehyeman Savings, Sinapi Aba, Union Savings and Advans Ghana. Thegames provided an opportunity for members of GHALSAC together to bond, network and exchange ideas. Participants battled it out for the ultimate through knockout stages and participants and spectators alike had a great day of excitement and sportsmanship. The Executive Secretary of GHALSAC, Eunice Marfowas proud of the association�s 00 contribution to the country�s economy by �further expanding financial service accessibility to the unbanked and those who are underserved by commercial banks�. GHALSAC is the umbrella body for all Savings and Loans Companies in Ghana and it is aimed at building a solid platform for the enhancement of microfinance practices in Savings and Loans Companies. The maiden GHALSAC games was held in Kumasi at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and Global Access Savings and Loans emerged winners.
