An attempt by officials of the Ghana Railways Corporation to demolish illegal structures and eject squatters from portions of land demarcated for rail way construction purposes, has been met with stiff resistance by some squatters near the Neoplan Station, Circle.
Not even the presence of the police could deter the squatters as they prevented the exercise from being carried out.
An eyewitness, Kweku, who spoke to Peace FM a short while ago, said about 5 houses had just been razed down, when some of the squatters, took matters into their own hands, by pelting stones at the police.
The police had been brought over there to ensure that the exercise was carried out successfully.
